For each of these units we offer a theme based on a select crystal in the room, to deepen your experience and learning while here.  These are simply offerings and not meant to be imposed upon you.  If you do not resonate with the themes, please disregard them, enjoy the other amenities of your room, and allow yourself to have the experience you desire.

Theme is ‘Passion and confidence’: carnelian

Carnelian is known as a stone of passion, confidence, and courage, supporting those who wish to build strength, ignite creativity, and bring their visions to life. Associated with the sacral chakra, it channels vibrant energy into self-expression and personal power.

This theme comes alive through its terracotta-colored walls, spacious layout, and vibrant earth tones. Guests are encouraged to rise with the sun, awaken their inner fire, and carry that energy into a day of inspiration and transformation.

Known as the Stone of Magic, Labradorite invites imagination, possibility, and inner discovery. This room reflects that energy with its inward-focused layout: the bed is tucked around a corner to create a cocoon-like feeling, while the tunnel-like view reminds you to focus only on what matters most. Shades of blue invite you into a dreamlike space, while touches of yellow whisper of sunshine, renewal, and new beginnings.

Perfect for couples, families, or friends, Labradorite comfortably accommodates up to four guests with one queen bed and a sofa that converts into a queen bed with a mattress.

Known as the Stone of Opportunity, Green Aventurine is said to enhance perception, spark creative insight, and invite new beginnings. It carries a soft, feminine energy of compassion, peace, and nourishment—encouraging deep self-forgiveness and the courage to stay open to growth.

This theme is reflected in the room’s green and pink tones, lush plant life, and the heart above the bed, reminding you of the sweetness available in relationships and the joy of new possibilities. A soothing space, Green Aventurine is designed for balance, comfort, and renewal.

A gentle and restorative retreat, Green Aventurine is perfect for solo travelers or couples seeking peace, healing, and inspiration at Finca Mālama.

This is a detached and private cozy cabin.  The A-frame is for those who desire a completely off-the-grid experience while still being enveloped in comfort and luxury accommodations.  There is no electricity, water, or internet available in this unit - perfect for a restorative stay.  You can choose to stay in this cabin if you want to feel more connected to nature, value less outside energetic intrusion, and enjoy an optional open air living space with a whole wall that you can open onto a deck.  Inside of your cabin is a private compost toilet and instructions on how to care for it; however, for a flush toilet and a hot shower, you can go on a short walk and access our public facilities located by the dining room.

In the Main House

This room is located within the main house, accessed through the dining room.  It is spacious and features large windows with a view out toward our coffee plants.  It includes inspiring murals that reflect daydreams and night time dreams.  A shared bathroom and shower is located just a few steps outside. This room may suit individuals who are sociable and like group meals right outside their door, or don’t desire walking up and down our hill to reach The Sol.

 
This room features:

• King bed that separates into two twins

• Large windows

• Close access to outdoor shower, toilet, and Bath House

The Sol is a roughly 30-foot hexagonal open-air structure made with natural bamboo and wood, positioned to take advantage of the surrounding views and tropical setting. It has a warm, earthy feel while still being equipped for professional events.

It includes:

• Open-air design surrounded by nature

• Library and comfortable sofa seating

• Panoramic views of the property and surrounding mountains

• Herbal elixir bar

• Sound system and microphone

• Professional event lighting

Tucked into the tropical lushness of Finca Mālama, our private Bath House offers a quiet space to slow down, warm up, and reconnect with your body.

Designed as a simple, nature-immersed wellness ritual, the Bath House features a deep soaking tub, rainfall shower, near-infrared sauna, and private bathroom, all surrounded by lush tropical plants and the sounds of the forest.

Your Bath House experience includes:

• Deep Soaking Tub — Settle into warm water and give yourself permission to truly slow down.

• Near-Infrared Sauna — Enjoy gentle, restorative heat that can promote relaxation, support circulation, and help relax tired muscles. 

• Rainfall Shower — Rinse, refresh, and transition between heat and water at your own pace.

Finca Mālama has its own indoor climbing wall, giving guests the opportunity to move, play, and challenge themselves without ever leaving the property.

Whether you're an experienced climber or simply curious to give it a try, the wall offers a playful way to incorporate movement into your stay.

Enjoy a different kind of workout, one that engages your body, focus, balance, and problem-solving skills.

The climbing wall is available for guest use during your stay. Please bring appropriate indoor climbing shoes.

We’ve built a series of natural switchback trails through the property that gradually lead you deeper into the tropical landscape and down to two very different waterways. The journey is part of the experience, slowing your pace, getting your feet on the earth, and letting the sounds of the jungle replace the noise of everyday life.

• The River

  • Our river is the more open and sun-filled of the two waterways, with long stretches of sandy shoreline, large rocks for sunbathing, swimming areas, and plenty of places to explore.

  • Bring a towel, a book, or simply yourself. Spend the afternoon walking along the river and sand, stretching out on a warm rock, cooling off in the water, or finding your own quiet place to take in the landscape.

• The Creek

  • Tucked deeper into the jungle, the creek offers a completely different experience.

  • At the base of a natural cavern, you'll find cool swimming holes surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. The shaded, intimate setting creates a beautiful place to escape the heat, enjoy a quiet swim, or simply sit beside the water and let the jungle envelop you.

  • The creek is especially suited to those moments when you're looking for privacy, quiet, and restoration.

Finca Mālama is located in an authentic Costa Rican village surrounded by lifelong local residents. A walk along the long dirt road offers more than a scenic hike. It is an opportunity to experience the landscape, community, and rhythms of everyday life.

As you explore, you may find yourself stepping aside for a passing herd of cows, greeting friendly neighborhood dogs, or stopping to chat with welcoming neighbors. The road can be both beautiful and challenging, making the walk a memorable way to connect with the area and experience local life at a slower pace.

The village is also surrounded by waterways and natural swimming spots. Follow the road and nearby trails to discover a jungle hike leading to a neighborhood waterfall, or make your way to the river for a refreshing swim. Each walk offers a different glimpse of the lush surroundings and the warm, vibrant community we are proud to call home.

Casa de Abuela is a spacious, open-air structure created to shelter a special tropical plant known for embodying the spirit of a grandmother. As the plant grows, its substantial roots will settle into the structure’s sturdy foundation, becoming an integral part of this peaceful space.

Over time, the plant’s vines will weave through the structure, gradually covering it and returning Casa de Abuela visually to the surrounding jungle. Covered for comfort and furnished with a hammock, the space invites you to linger for an afternoon nap, reading, or quiet reflection.

Located at one of the highest points on the property, Casa de Abuela offers expansive views of rolling green hills and some of the freshest, most refreshing breezes on the land.

Finca Mālama is a living botanical garden where food, medicine, and tropical beauty grow side by side. Across our organic farm, we cultivate approximately 1,500 coffee trees, along with sugarcane, cacao, bananas, plantains, root crops, herbs, cinnamon, pineapple, bamboo, and seasonal garden staples. More than 100 varieties of fruit trees flourish throughout the property, creating a diverse landscape to explore and enjoy.

Our farm is carefully tended and thoughtfully landscaped, with trails and open spaces that invite you to slow down and take a closer look. As you wander, you can see where many of your favorite foods begin, from coffee and chocolate to tropical fruits, herbs, and nourishing root crops.

The farm is an essential part of life at Finca Mālama. It provides ingredients for our kitchen, connects us to the rhythms of the land, and offers guests a hands-on way to experience the abundance of Costa Rica.
